Texas Brownies

2 cups flour
2 c sugar
1/2 c butter
1/2 c shortening
1 c water
1/4 c dk unsweetened cocoa
1/2 c buttermilk (1/2 c milk + 2 tsp lemon juice)
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

* In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar
* In a saucepan, combine butter, shortening, water and cocoa. Stir and heat until boiling.
* Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar.
* Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda, and vanilla
* Mix with a wooden spoon or at high speed on electric mixer.
* Pour into a well buttered cookie sheet
* Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until brownies are done in the center.

Frosting:

1/2 c butter
2 Tbsp cocoa
1/4 c milk
3 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla

* Combine butter, cocoa and milk. Heat to a boil.
* Take off heat and mix in vanilla, and powdered sugar. Stir until smooth.
* Pour over warm brownies
